Description | Engineering consulting firms who have experience with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 820 and fire risk prevention to submit sealed proposals for engineering services for NFPA 820 WRF Planning Study. The District would like to evaluate the impact of achieving voluntary compliance with NFPA 820: Standard for Fire Protection in Wastewater Treatment and Collection Facilities. The purpose of this study is to review the 2011 Study (included in Appendix F) that was completed and develop passive solutions for the Water Reclamation Facilities (WRF) and the Dewatering and Drying (D&D) Facility. NFPA 820 is a standard for fire and explosive protection for assets located at the WRF. The extent of the assets to be evaluated are both WRF’s, South Shore (SSWRF) and Jones Island (JIWRF), including D&D. The mitigation strategy to be developed should be solutions that have wide applicability to the hazards present in the process buildings across both WRF’s. Given the unique nature of D&D, the District would like a fire risk assessment completed along with solutions. The general scope of work for this contract includes review of existing reference information and meetings with representatives from the District and Veolia Water Milwaukee, LLC (Veolia Water). The Consultant will perform a design evaluation as outlined in the scope of services. The Consultant’s evaluations and recommendations will be summarized in technical memoranda and report.
