Description | This project will provide funding for intersection improvements at Bryant and Flatwood Roads. Both Bryant Road and Flatwood Road are collector roads located in the northeastern portion of the County. Currently, the intersection is controlled by stop signs along Flatwood Road. Bryant Road is a through road that does not stop. The intersection is relatively small and does not safely accommodate larger vehicles and/or higher traffic volumes. The intersection will be further evaluated; however, the projected improvement is likely a roundabout. This first phase of the project will include the services of an engineering consultant and right-of-way acquisition with construction to follow. Future funding for this project will be from General obligation bond proceeds. This project directly supports Council's strategic vision by being a core component of the County's infrastructure plan. The project also improves services provided to citizens by upgrading a roadway in a highly traveled corridor of the County. As of December 19, 2023, this project is included in the Spartanburg County 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Initial funding for this project was provided in FY 2021/22. Engineering and right-of-way acquisition is currently in process and should be completed during FY 2022/23. Construction is anticipated to begin during FY2024/25. A design team has not been identified per owner. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. |
