Plainview Hospital ICU Chiller CM Proposals

The 1st floor ICU space consists of 17 patient rooms and 4 isolation rooms at the perimeter with support space rooms at the center of the suite. Each surveyed patient room contains a supply diffuser and two return diffusers to serve the room. The space is currently served by AHU-3, an existing York recirculating air handler located on the roof directly above the ICU space. The supply duct from the air handler splits on roof to run down two risers to serve the space, one at the north of the suite and another towards the midpoint of the space. The return duct riser runs up the aforementioned north riser from the space. Airflow modulation occurs at the unit itself as the space is a constant volume Currently there are (2) two older vintage 80 ton Carrier chillers. Located at grade along the north side just east of the north wing. In the same fenced in area outside alongside the chillers are (2) existing primary pumps, three (3) secondary pumps, plate and frame heat exchanger, buffer tank and expansion tank. The existing CHW piping runs up the north side inside of the building to the roof to two units on the roof of the north building. This piping is undersized to serve the new AHU load. There are (2) newer 160 ton Trane chillers adjacent to the chillers noted above. The Trane units are piped both down to serve the fan coil units and other hospital distribution. These two chillers are configured in an N+1 configuration. Both of these chillers are provided with emergency power.
