Description | The network cabling at Poinciana High School consists of Category 5 copper and 62.5-micron multi-mode fiber. With advancing network technologies, this cabling has become obsolete. This project will be designed by OCI Associates, Inc and consists of upgrading the network cabling to Category 6A copper and 9-micron single-mode fiber. A new campus distributor telecommunications room (MDF) in the media center will be constructed to provide adequate infrastructure for future building and educational technologies. A new backbone fiber cable installed from new MDF to existing MDF, horizontal cable replacement in all areas to be served by the new MDF and all newly renovated (or constructed) IDF locations. Work consists of replacing cabling, conduit & any supporting architectural, mechanical, & electrical improvements. A new floor distribution telecommunications room (IDF) will be constructed on the 2nd floor located on the east side of building 1 to compliment an existing IDF location. This room shall incorporate SDOC standards for layout, HVAC, and electrical power. A new building distributor telecommunications room (IDF) will be constructed in the music building. Renovation of all other IDF's is required to bring them up to current SDOC standards for layout, HVAC, and electrical power. Removal of old existing and abandoned cabling is required in the project. Work will largely need to be accomplished during the school year, requiring after-hours labor. Work during school breaks and summer 2022 can take place during normal hours. The schedule will need to be closely coordinated with school administration to avoid network/power outages and any disruption to classroom instruction. Most of the invasive work is required to be completed during the summer break. |
