Chimney Repairs Halbert Heating Plant - MEP

A timeline or award has not yet been established.**  This project is being let using the single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the26 applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 527 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each28 applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime29 contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will30 publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the31 successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified,32 responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts33 with the successful MEP bidders . A-2 In general, the work consists of performing exterior masonry repairs consisting of tuckpointing approximately 5,000 linear feet of masonry joints and replacing approximately 100 units. In addition, install IR LED aviation obstruction light units and install liquid collector to the perimeter at the top of the chimney. o Seal cracks in existing concrete chimney cap o Perform exterior masonry repairs o Clean, repair, recoat and seal existing steel tension bands o Clean, repair, and recoat existing exterior ladder and exterior platform handrails, grating, and support framing o Seal cracks in existing concrete cap above the exterior breeching offset o Recoat exterior breeching, cleanout door and door frame o Place new heat-resistant insulation to fill existing gaps at breeching inlet o Check electrical continuity of air leads down through lightning protection to ground o Apply siloxane water proofing o Inspect chimney interior per specifications and perform interior tuckpointing and masonry repair o Install new IR LED aviation lights o Install new stainless steel liquid collector around the perimeter of the top of the chimney with (1) drain o Install heat tape inside of drains along with a monitoring system to prevent freezing . Base Bids will be received as a single lump sum bid for: 5) Electrical. Bid Guarantee in the amount of 10% of the Bid must accompany each bid submitted. Bidding Documents will be available online immediately upon the project being advertised for bid.
