Red River Structure - FMM Area Flood Risk Management

Red River Structure (RRS) of the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management Project. The RRS’s main function is to control the amount of flow entering the benefitted area where the Red River passes through the dam. The RRS will include a gated structure, dam walls, vehicle service bridge, mechanical platform bridge, stilling basin, dentated end sill, downstream retaining walls, approach apron, slope protection slab and approach walls. The structure includes three 50-foot wide Tainter gates, two 12-foot wide concrete piers between them, and abutments on the east and west side of the structure. The RRS also includes a control building, access roads, approximately 3,000 feet of engineered channel, and approximately 2,000 feet of borrow ditch channel.
