Removal, Handling and Disposal of Drinking Water Treatment Plant Residuals Material and Replacement of Sand Underdrain Media in Lagoon 2

Specifications for the removal, handling and disposal of drinking water treatment plant residuals material and replacement of sand underdrain media in Lagoon No. 2 for the Lowell Regional Water Utility. It is the intent of these specifications to describe the removal, handling, transportation, and disposal of Drinking Water Treatment Plant Residuals for the Lowell Regional Water Utility. The residuals are derived from aluminum-based coagulation and flocculation products. The residuals are piped from the treatment plant to three residuals lagoons, located directly across the street from the Water Treatment Plant (815 Pawtucket Boulevard, Lowell, MA 01854). The handling and disposal of residuals material described by this specification are as follows: 1.Remove and dispose of all treatment plant residual solids material, 2.Remove and dispose of spent lagoon underdrain sand media, and 3.Install new lagoon underdrain sand media.
