Description | The first period of performance is October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022. Fire Hydrants shall be manufactured in accordance with the most current revision of AWWA standard C502 (currently C502-05), be UL listed, and have Factory Mutual approval. Fire Hydrants shall be designed for 250 psi working pressure and tested to 400 psi hydrostatic pressure. Fire Hydrants shall be backed by the manufacturers’ limited warrantee. Warranty submitted with Bid documents. Fire Hydrants shall be dry top, center stem construction, having an O-ring sealed lubrication reservoir. Lubrication with a non-corrosive grease type lubricant. No liquid oil lubricants accepted. Fire Hydrants shall be manufactured with, an operating nut, and thrust nut made of bronze, with bearings located above and below the thrust collar, and operating nut protected by a cast iron weather shield. Fire Hydrants shall be manufactured with nozzles mechanically locked into the barrel and have Oring pressure seals. Fire Hydrants shall be a "Traffic Model", or an approved equivalent, complete with safety flanges and steel stem coupling. Nozzle section must rotate 360 degrees. Fire Hydrants shall be manufactured with a main valve seat ring, made of bronze, threaded into a bronze drain ring. A 360 degree drain channel shall have a minimum of two drain outlets. Fire Hydrants shall have an upper valve plate and two rubber facings that activate the drain ports. Fire Hydrants shall be manufactured with a lower valve plate that bottoms out in the shoe for a maximum opening. Fire Hydrants shall be manufactured with a minimum main valve opening of 5 1/4 inches. Fire Hydrants shall be the CLOW MEDALLION as manufactured by the CLOW Valve Company or approved equal. Fire Hydrants shall be "Fire Engine Red" Fire Hydrants shall have two opposing 2 1/2 inch hose nozzle connections, and one 4 1/2 inch pumper nozzle connection. Fire Hydrants shall have NFPA standard fire hose connections. Fire Hydrants main inlet shall be 6-inch mechanical joint type. |
