Description

As of August 10, 2023, the city has awarded a general contractor. The City of Williamsburg Department of Public Works, hereafter known as the City, is seeking bids from contractors for the demolition of an attached office structure, renovations to existing bathroom facilities inside the main structure, and installing a canopy and concrete sidewalk located at 202 Quarterpath Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185 It is the intent of this solicitation to secure through competitive sealed bidding, the demolition of an attached office structure damaged by fire, renovations to existing bathroom facilities inside the main structure, and new canopy and concrete sidewalk located at the City of Williamsburg's Quarterpath Recreation Center, 202 Quarterpath Road, Williamsburg, Virginia. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment to accomplish the following described tasks. 1. Obtain and pay for all necessary permits (i.e. Demolition, Land Disturbance, and Building and Trade permits) and pay for any additional fees (i.e. hauling and disposal). City permits are not waived, but City permit fees shall be waived. Submit to the City product data for all materials to be used in Task #4 below for review and approval. 2. Install erosion and sediment control measures as shown on the provided plan. 3. Demolish the existing attached structure, labeled 'Office' (room 145) and 'Entry' (room 144) as well as the walls at each end of room 143 labeled 'Lobby" identified on the attached drawing, including all materials above ground down to and including the existing concrete pad for the Office structure. Also included shall be capping from within the existing facility the existing fire sprinkler system piping that serves the unused structure. Fine grading, topsoiling, seeding, and mulching the disturbed area shall be included with this task. 4. Demolish all items in the men's, women's, and family areas described herein; i.e. rooms 137, 139, 140, 141 (lockers only), 146, 148, 149, and 150 identified on the attached drawing. a. Lockers, benches, shower facilities, toilet partitions, and countertops. Note: existing sinks, and faucets, are to be removed and reinstalled; toilets and urinal are to remain in place and refurbished unless necessary to removed and reinstalled. b. Included shall be the capping and or plugging of all plumbing in the shower stalls of all the bathrooms. c. Cinderblock wall between rooms 138 and 139, and 149 and 150. Note: this is an additive bid item. 5. Renovate, furnish, and install all items for the men's, women's, and family bathrooms described herein; rooms 137, 139, 140, 141, 146, 148, 149, and 150 identified on the attached drawing. Note: Contractor shall submit to the City product data sheets for all new items for review and approval prior to ordering and installation. a. 2 new interior door frames with doors between rooms 139 and 140, and 148 and 149. b. Metal shelving on 1 wall at 3 levels in rooms 138 and 150 each. c. Toilet partitions, and countertops in rooms 140, and 148, as well as new countertop in room 146. 1 toilet partitioning must be handicap accessible in each of the bathrooms. Reuse and refurbish existing sinks, faucets, toilets and urinal that are in good condition and working order and replace any missing parts. d. New drop-down acoustic ceiling in all rooms; installation shall include connecting new HVAC louvres and/or grills, if current ones are not reusable, and provide spacing for the existing sprinkler heads. e. Replace toilets and/or urinal if determined to be unusable; Note: this is an additive bid item. Page 4 of 16f. Remove and replace existing tile flooring in all rooms (137 to 142 and 147 to 151); Note: this is an additive bid item. 6. Install a cantilevered hardtop canopy attached to the existing structure over the three (3) exterior bathroom as indicated on the attached drawings. 7. Excavate, grade, and provide aggregate as necessary for installing a 6 ft wide, 4-inch hydraulic cement concrete sidewalk. Formwork, handwork, A3 general concrete, and cleanup work shall be included in the cost of the concrete installation. 8. Retain and submit to the City all documentation relevant to the removal and legal disposal of all materials from the site, as well as all warranties for installed items.
