Description

The City of Gloucester seeks proposals from qualified Trade contractors interested in being prequalified for the Addition and Renovation to the Sawyer Free Library, located at 2 Dale Ave., Gloucester MA. Existing building Response The majority of work is new masonry on the addition. There will be some restoration work on the existing library, but that scope is fairly limited. Trade Contractor Statement of Qualifications Forms from interested trade subcontractors are sought for the following categories of work:, Fire Protection (Estimated Cost $230,000) and Elevators (Estimated Cost $222,000). This Request for Qualifications ("RFQ") is the first phase of a two-phase procurement process as set forth in M.G.L. c. 149A. Only prequalified firms with DCAMM certification will be permitted to submit bids for the above categories. The City reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or to accept that which is deemed in the best interest of the City of Gloucester, MA. The City shall not be responsible for proposals arriving late for any reason. Value reflects from GC bidding project The Sawyer Free Library ("SFL") is located at 2 Dale Avenue in Gloucester. The existing 1976 three-story structure is comprised of approximately 17,380 square feet and currently houses all library public functions. The proposed project includes a comprehensive restoration to the existing 1976 building, coupled with a planned three-story addition (13,800 sf) on School Street side of the existing building. The combined renovation and addition will provide for the planned expansion of library services, and will contain approximately 31,000 gross square feet as follows: Exterior Work includes: Exterior building envelope restoration on existing 1976 structure, including door and window replacement, curtainwall, roofing replacement, masonry veneer restoration, and replacement of exterior sealants. New building envelope on the addition, to include masonry veneer, doors, window and curtainwalls and new roofing. Sitework includes new site utilities, parking area, exterior circulation, landscaping and restoration of existing site features (granite walls, fountain, amphitheater, etc.). Interior work includes comprehensive renovations to the existing 1976 structure, as well as interior fit-out of the new addition, to include: Hazardous Materials removal and select demolition of existing interior spaces - Ground Floor: Community Programming, Atrium / Parking Lot Entry, Local History, Public Technology, Staff Spaces and Administrative Offices, and Mechanical Rooms. First Floor / Middle Level: Quiet Reading / Study Rooms, Conference Rooms, Staff Work Rooms, Main Reading Room. A primary building entry (from Dale Avenue) as well as adjacent Gallery Space is also located at this level. Second Floor / Upper Level: Teen Reading and Program Room, Children's Reading and Program Room and related staff work rooms. Public bathrooms, stairs, entrances, storage and elevator service is provided at all levels. Systems Improvements include: Replacement of existing HVAC systems with VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) with Dedicated Outdoor Air Service (DOAS) Replacement of existing Electrical System (power, fire alarm, BDA, Tel-com, etc.) Provision of Emergency Generator / Back-up Power System
