Description | The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities owns and operates the Idols Dam which is located between Davidson and Forsyth Counties. The dam contains a 48-inch pipe which is designed to allow water to flow from one side of the dam to the other. This pipe is prone to blockage due to the amount of debris and sediment contained in the river. This project will consist of design of a mechanical device such as a rake system or a similar means to remove and control the amount of sediment accumulation from blocking the 48-inch pipe. This project will also include repair of the portage located on the Davidson County’s side of the dam and additional safety warning signage to be placed upstream of and around the dam. The selected engineering firm will provide all designs and documents necessary for permitting, construction and bidding. The selected firm will also likely provide construction administration. |
