Description

This project consists of the reconstruction and widening of the two lanes of pavement on Gene Campbell Boulevard in two phases. The first phase being from STA 77+00 to just east of the newly constructed Keefer Middle School. The second phase will be from 1,000 ft west of the first Walmart driveway to Sta 77+00. Phase 1 will take the twenty-two foot pavement section and widen it to thirty feet for most of the project. Around the proposed Keefer Middle School there will be additional widening to a total 40 foot pavement width in order to accommodate a left turn into the school’s main entrance. This phase consists of 50 stations of subgrade widening and road grader work, reworking the existing base material for an 8 inch depth by pulverizing and spreading for approximately 18,700 square yards, then placing approximately 5,950 tons of crushed concrete flex base, mixing them with about 400 tons of cement, placing 4,700 gallons of prime coat, and then topping it with approximately 2,000 tons of hot mix asphalt lain at 2 inch depth. Phase 2 provides for the widening of Gene Campbell Blvd from 1,000 ft. west of 1st Walmart Drive to 1,000 ft. east of E Industrial Pkwy. The final roadway will consist of a 3 lane road with continuous le ft turn lane. This phase provides for the grading, treated subgrade, asphaltic pavement, structures, relocation and improvement of existing ditch, drainage, and signing and pavement markings. The total length of the project is approximately 1.25 miles. Phase 2 consists of 37,000 square yards worth of placing crushed concrete ranging from 8 - 12 inches deep, lime or cement treating subgrade for 33,000 square yards with 840 tons of lime or 600 tons of cement, an d placing 7,200 tons of hot mix asphalt. The above description of the scope of work is general in nature and is only intended to provide an overview of the project. The complete detailed scope of work and bid items are contained in the plans and specific ations. The contractor will have a total of 360 calendar days to complete the project, however, Phase 1 pavement construction.
