Description | ASPHALTIC CONCRETE SURFACING shall be completed in accordance with City of Topeka and Shawnee County Standard Technical Specifications, latest edition and addenda thereto. SC-1.1: Mix Designation: BM-2A SC-1.2: Mix Design Criteria: Principal / Minor Arterial SC-1.3: Asphalt Binder: PG 70-28 - Meeting requirements as specified in Section 1200 KDOT Standard Specifications SC-1.4: Asphalt for Tack Coats: SS-1HP - Meeting requirements as specified in Section 1203 KDOT Standard Specifications COLD MILLING EQUIPMENT: Contractor shall provide a self-propelled machine capable of cold milling asphalt pavement and loading milled asphalt pavement directly into trucks in one pass measuring 12 feet in width and 2 inches in depth. The cold milling machine shall be equipped with automatic grade and slope controls capable of maintaining a uniform grade and cross slope. PAVING OPERATIONS: Contractor shall install 2" of HMA in one lift on the milled surface. HMA shall be spread and finished to the specified crown and grade using an automatically controlled HMA Paver approved by the Engineer prior to paving operations. Operate the paver at a speed which shall provide a uniform rate of placement without undue interruption. At all times, keep the paver hopper sufficiently full to prevent non-uniform flow of the HMA to the augers and screed. Asphalt for Tack Coats: Contractor shall spray on the pavement surface receiving HMA a uniform coat of Emulsion Asphalt SS-1HP meeting the requirements as specified in Section 1203 Kansas Department of Transportation, Standard Specifications, latest edition and addendum. Application rate shall be 0.03 to 0.06 gallons per square yard. Contractor shall coordinate daily work efforts such that any milled surface will receive the first and final lift of new HMA before the work day is completed. Quantities bid are estimates only. Shawnee County reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities bid, as necessary, with no change to the Unit Price Bid. PAVEMENT MARKINGS PAINT shall be a water-borne marking paint including Glass Beads furnished in accordance with KDOT Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridge SECTION 2215 and applied in accordance with City of Topeka / Shawnee County Standard Technical Specifications SECTION 4 - Obstructions and Incidental Construction The Work will commence with an issuance of a Start Work Order by the Owner. The Contractor shall have twenty (20) calendar day from the date Start Work Order is issued by the Owner to have the project certified as being Substantially Complete and Ready for Final Payment and Acceptance. FINAL ACCEPTANCE and PAYMENT: For the project to be certified Ready of Final Acceptance and Payment the contractor shall have submitted a signed copy of both the Final Pay Application and Change Order reconciling "As Bid" verses "As Constructed" final quantities to the Owner. |
