The City of Bakersfield is requesting bids from experienced and reputable contractors to replace one (1) Ray pack hot water boiler (1,413,000 BTU) as specified herein. Please review it carefully. This is the contract the successful Bidder is expected to execute without alteration. If any changes are desired, they must be submitted to the City for approval prior to bid opening. If approved, the changes will be made public for all prospective bidders. Qualified firms must be licensed in the State of California and must have comparable and verifiable experience in HVAC. Selected contractor will work with The City of Bakersfield's General Services Division of the Public Works Department in the planning and coordination of this project. Questions and comments regarding this Invitation to Bid must be submitted in writing, either by United States mail, e-mail, or facsimile no later than 5:00 p.m., March 10, 2023 Work performed under this scope will be for the City of Bakersfield Annex building located at 1501 Truxtun Ave, in Bakersfield Ca. 93301. The purpose of the boiler installation is to remove the existing boiler, dispose of existing boiler (Raypack, Model# E 1413T-0, Serial# 0380101932) and replace it with the listed specifications in this scope of work. All equipment and associated components will be installed in the existing boiler area. Replacement boiler shall be of equal BTU rating (1,413,000 BTU) and shall be a Raypak brand. Any other brands that are submitted but are not included in the list of acceptable brands will have to be reviewed and approved by the City. Water supply, Gas lines, drain lines, and electrical lines shall be isolated, disconnected, capped, or locked out by contractor at points of connection. Any water, gas, or drain lines that need modification shall be a done by the contractor. Installation of the new boiler must be performed per manufacturer's design and applicable Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations. Contractor to install, start up, and commission new boiler based on the equipment specifications below. Contractor is responsible for ensuring that the boiler will be compliant with all codes and regulations, and that they remain compliant with all OSHA and Cal OSHA regulations during the entirety of their work. WORKDAYS AND HOURS: Unit replacement shall be performed Saturday and Sunday 6:00 a.m. to 6:00p.m. 1. The contractor shall take all appropriate measures to ensure that the boiler is engineered/designed/sized and installed in compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations. 2. The contractor must ensure that the BTU rating, electrical, and gas specifications of the replacement boiler are like the existing unit. 3. The contractor shall modify the gas and water pipes to fit the new boiler as needed. 4. The contractor shall obtain all required approvals and permits prior to proceeding with the installation under this scope of work. 5. The contractor shall at a minimum possess a class C 20 contractor's license. 6. The contractor shall provide personnel, materials, services, and facilities to perform, accomplish, and deliver the required services detailed in this scope of work. 7. The contractor shall ensure that all on site personnel is adequately and visibly identified. 8. Supply and install one (1) new Raypak boiler based on the specifications below. 9. Reconnect to control wiring and line voltage electrical circuit. 10. Replace water inlet and outlet isolation valves. 11. Reconnect water supply and drain lines. 12. Install new flow switch if the replacement boiler does not have one. Cap off existing flow switch if replacement boiler comes with one. 13. Provide and install DURA-BLOK (or comparable) pipe support blocks to support gas line and electrical conduit. 14. Install pipe insulation where required. 15. Provide crane and rigging. 16. Start up and operational check. 17. Provide operating manuals. 18. One (1) year minimum warranty on labor and materials. 19. Bid prevailing wages.
