Description | Work shall consist of disassembly of existing handrail sections, removal of existing bridge from stream channel, transfer to a climate controlled facility, preparing surface of the bridge to be primed and painted, and reinstalling the bridge including grate replacement and lead abatement testing certification.All of the equipment, materials and labor that may be necessary to complete the Work and place it in satisfactory operation, implied or intended in the Plans and Specifications, shall be furnished and/or installed without extra cost to the OWNER. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids and to waive any irregularity in Bids received whenever such rejection or waiver is in its interest. Wages of forepersons; equipment operators; and skilled, semi-skilled, and common laborers directly assigned to the specific operation will be reimbursed as direct labor at contract or actual payroll rate of wages per hour and actual fringe benefits paid, for each hour that such employees are actually engaged in the performance of the authorized Work and, if directed, overtime as provided by existing laws and regulations. Permits, licenses and easements for permanent structures or permanent changes in existing facilities shall be secured and paid for by the OWNER, unless otherwise specified. Construction Staging - Must be approved by Borough. b. Remove all connections to existing bridge abutments necessary to fully remove all bridge components. c. Disassemble the handrail at the abutments and all other bridge components. d. Load bridge via crane onto flatbed trailer to transport to a climate-controlled facility. e. Prepare surfaces to receive new coatings of primer and paint. f. Apply primer and finish coat of approved paint in a shop-controlled environment. g. Provide lead abatement testing certification prior to reinstallation. h. Replace refinished superstructure and secure to abutments. i. Install new grates and secure to superstructure. j. Reinstall refinished handrail system and ensure all other existing abutment and superstructure connections are painted to match refinished bridge components. 9. Community Block Development Grant a. Contractor shall remove bridge by dissembling the handrail and all other bridge components necessary to complete rehabilitation and load bridge via crane onto flatbed trailer to transport to a climate-controlled facility. c. Contractor shall surface blast bridge components to remove existing lead paint and prepare surfaces to receive new coatings of primer and paint. d. Contractor shall apply an approved primer and finish coat of epoxy-based paint system in a shop-controlled environment. e. Contractor shall provide lead abatement testing certification prior to reinstallation. 2 f. Contractor shall replace refinished superstructure and secure to abutments. g. Contractor shall install new grates and secure to superstructure. h. Contractor shall reinstall refinished handrail system and ensure all other existing abutment and superstructure connections are painted to match refinished bridge components. |
