Description | As of May 24, 2023, the project has not been awarded. A timeline for award has not been confirmed. The project will provide approximately 2,200 LF of new asphalt trail and a new 16 wide bicycle/pedestrian bridge overpass spanning approximately 143 LF over Wiehle Avenue to replace the existing at-grade crossing. The bridge will be composed of Prefabricated Steel Truss Structure, reinforced concrete decking and reinforced concrete abutment walls. The work also includes, approximately 175 LF concrete gravity retaining wall, 1,100 LF Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining walls with architectural treatment and metal fences, 10 ft and 12 ft wide asphalt trail, concrete sidewalk, curb and combination curb and gutter, curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, storm drains, storm drain structures, 1480 linear feet of 24 inch and 6 inch water main relocation, signal work at the intersection of Wiehle Avenue and Sunset Hills Road, signage work, milling, paving, pavement marking and other associated work. The contract Award and start of construction are anticipated to be in September 2022. The overall construction duration is planned to be 12 to 16 months. These are estimated dates and durations and are subject to change. This is a Federally Funded and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), Locally Administered Project. Davis Bacon, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), and related acts will apply. Only firms that have been pre-qualified in accordance with the procedures in this Prequalification Application will be eligible to submit bids for this project. Bids received from those who have not been pre-qualified will not be considered. All questions concerning this Pre-qualification Application procedure shall be submitted in writing to the Utilities Design and Construction Division as outlined on the Application instructions. The Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia reserves the right to reject any and all Applications, and to waive informalities and irregularities in the Pre-qualification Application procedure. All questions concerning the project shall be submitted in writing to the Director, Utilities Design & Construction Division, Department of Public Works and Environmental Services, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 463, Fairfax, VA 22035-0056, or by emailing DPWESCAPUDCDTransportationInquiry@fairfaxcounty.gov, and to be given consideration, questions must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of the bids. |
