Description | PID : 4335233 I-95 Express Lane expansion to be completed Fall 2022 FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WSET) -- An extension will be added to the I-95 Express Lanes approximately 10 miles south of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) in Stafford County to the vicinity of Route 17 (I-95 Exit 133). Two reversible high-occupancy toll lanes will be built in the existing median of I-95. The lanes will connect to the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project and the I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing project. Additional access to the I-95 Express Lanes will be added near the Route 17 and Route 630 (Courthouse Road) I-95 interchanges in Stafford and near the Russell Road interchange at Quantico Marine Corps Base in Prince William County. Full project funding for the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project was announced on January 10, 2018, by Governor Terry McAuliffe. Transurban is leading the construction of this design-build project. The design-build contractor is a joint venture between Branch Civil and Flatiron. For more information, please visit the Fredericksburg Extension project page on the Express Lanes website. The project is meant to reduce congestion, accommodate travel demand more efficiently, provide greater reliability of travel times on I-95 Express Lanes, expand travel choices by increasing the attractiveness and utility of ridesharing and transit usage while also providing an option for single- and double-occupant vehicles to bypass congested conditions |
