Description

This requirement is for the removal of existing artificial turf, the proper preparation of approximately 3900 sf of ground area and installation of 3900 sf of artificial turf. The turf located outside the RSTF is used by Aviation Swimmer Technicians (AST) students and Instructor daily to complete body weight movements without incurring injury that one would likely incur training on a hard surface. The turf is meant to absorb shock from impact while remaining stable. Our students and Instructors conduct a wide range of movements on the turf to include push-ups, sit-ups, flutter kicks, body weight squats, burpees, etc. The turf blades should remain cool in warmer weather, which keeps the students hands, knees and back from getting burned unlike concrete surfaces. Because of the large amounts of rain, the turf needs to be able to drain properly without eroding the undersoil which cause various size divots.
