Description

The project scope as envisioned by the City should include an examination of the maintenance practices of the departments that manage facilities and grounds: Police, Fire, Public Works, Libraries, Parks & Recreation, Safety & Inspections and Financial Services. The study should focus on three main areas: 1. Building maintenance (routine upkeep and repair) 2. Custodial maintenance (cleaning of facility interior spaces) 3. Grounds maintenance (activities within exterior spaces such as landscaping, mowing, sweeping, shoveling and minor repairs) The scope of the study is not all-inclusive of activities and processes integral to proper facility and grounds maintenance. Important to consider, but more tangential to the study focus is major capital maintenance. In recent years the City has made more progress in this area than in the other areas. The City has invested time and resources into identifying capital maintenance needs across all departments, documenting those needs in a common technology platform, and using the information to guide funding priorities.
