HVAC Contractors for UCH, MSI RTU Replacement

Replace three (3) custom Roof Top Units (RTUs) that serve the Musculoskeletal Institute (MSI) building located at 120 Dowling Way, on the UConn Health Farmington, CT campus. The MSI building is currently served by three (3) evaporative cooled direct expansion (DX) RTUs. RTU-1 & 2 are cross connected for redundancy and serve the first, third, and fourth floors of the building, which contain offices, clinics and research laboratories (on the 4th floor only). RTU-3 is dedicated to the outpatient surgery center located on the second floor. All three units consists of an evaporative condensing section, DX evaporation section with staged compressors, gas heating section, supply air fan section with variable frequency drives (VFD), return air fan section with VFD, filter section, service vestibule with electric heat (4KW for RTU-1 & 2, 6KW for RTU-3), and main control panel provided with a steam humidifier section as well. All three units distribute air to variable air volume boxes (VAV) which maintain individual thermal zone temperatures. The new RTUs will be in kind replacements matching capacities and components of the existing units with control and economizer upgrades to improve energy efficiency.
