Description

As of 02/15/2023 This project is on hold and a rebidding process should take place in the fall. A Prebid meeting will be held for all contractors in Holmes Elementary School, located at 18 Hoyt Street, Darien, CT in the COMMONS Room on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:30 AM. It is MANDATORY that the abatement and demolition contractor attend the Prebid meeting. Building and site walk-throughs will follow after the Prebid meeting. Bids will not be received nor contracts awarded to any abatement and demolition contractor who does not attend the Prebid meeting. All bidders are responsible for examining existing conditions affecting their work and are strongly encouraged to attend the Prebid meeting.. This project consists of constructing two classroom additions (including a new corridor), expansion of the existing Library space and alterations at Holmes Elementary School. Work includes new roofing, interior structural work within the existing building, some new finishes, millwork, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and life safety, as well as rough-in for tele/data and security. Site work includes new electrical service, storm drainage, some pavement work, sidewalks and plantings. The overall timeframe of this Phase 2 Building and Site construction is late August 2023 through August 2025. This school will remain occupied during construction, so the interior alterations/renovations work will be constructed in multiple phases. The previous Phase 1 of this project consists of the material procurement of Switchgear and Electrical Distribution Equipment for all three Hindley, Holmes and Royle Elementary School projects. One contractor has been awarded all three Phase 1 schools projects. The materials and equipment procured by the Phase 1 contractor shall be furnished to the Phase 2 electrical trade contractor in Spring 2024. Installation of materials and equipment furnished by the Phase 1 contractor shall be performed by the Phase 2 electrical trade contractor.
