The Village seeks a qualified developer to purchase and improve the existing campground. The Village will consider all proposals that contemplate infrastructure improvements of the property and are compatible with the Village of Rantoul adopted codes and regulations. The Village of Rantoul Community Development Department is requesting proposals for the acquisition, improvement and operation of the Prairie Pines Campground located at 711 Chandler Road, Rantoul. The Village seeks a qualified developer to purchase and improve the existing campground. The Village will consider all proposals that contemplate infrastructure improvements of the property and are compatible with the Village of Rantoul's adopted codes and regulations. To be considered, proposers must submit a concept development proposal in response to this Request for Proposal (RFP), following the directions below. Proposals that include a specific purchase offer will be most competitive. LOCATION The property is located on the south perimeter of the Village of Rantoul boundaries, previously on the former Chanute Air Force Base. Located on Chandler Road, the property is easily accessible by regional connections US Highway 136 and US Route 45 and is minutes from Interstate 57. The property is within biking/walking distance to parks and other Recreational amentities. The goal is to sell the property to a developer with the financial means to complete rehabilitation and infrastructure improvements on the property that is in character with the current land use, and to operate the property as a campground facility, in hopes of providing a needed service for current residents as well as visitors to the Village of Rantoul. Specific goals of the project include: Consistency with the RC Recreation Zoning District and Airport area revitalization efforts Substantive plans to operate and improve the existing campground Complement and enrich a unique offering to current residents and visitors alike Enhance the tax base |
