Description

Cost Range: $50,000,000.00 - $999,999,999.00 As of April 7, 2023, a general contractor has been awarded. Construction is slated to commence July 10, 2023. This project provides for the furnishing of all labor, material, equipment and work necessary to perform staged construction for full-depth reconstruction and widening of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from two lanes in each direction to three lanes in each direction. The project includes the reconstruction of an interchange and the construction of three mainline bridges, twelve retaining walls, three sound barriers, six sign structures, and one DMS sign structure. The contract also provides for highway lighting modifications, CCTV cameras, drainage modifications, and maintenance and protection of traffic. The proposal and plans are published electronically in EBS and are available to registered business partners for downloading and printing. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
