Description

The project is to demolish buildings 13 & 14. Each building is an approximately 1,232 square foot steel pipe frame structure that previously served as a greenhouse. Fiberglass glazing was damaged and removed during a previous hurricane, but the framing and foundations remain. Utility services (water and natural gas) remain as well. The structure is believed to be free of asbestos containing materials. The Contractor shall inspect the building to complete an assessment for demolition before the demolition starts. If any suspected asbestos containing materials are found, the Contracting Officer and Engineering Project Manager are to be notified immediately and an abatement plan is to be developed. Contractor will determine means and methods to be used and shall properly dispose of demolition debris at an off-site, properly designated landfill. Utility services (water and natural gas) are to be terminated and capped in place at least 6” underground. After demolition, the area is to be site graded and topsoil brought in as needed to match existing surrounding elevation. The area shall be seeded with a Bermudagrass seed mixture to match surrounding vegetation and covered with sufficient erosion control materials to prevent erosion until the permanent vegetation is established. All debris shall be removed from the site using proper debris containers and a metal sweep of the grounds and surrounding roads used to transport debris off site will be completed.
