Description The General Services Administration (GSA), Northeast and Caribbean Region (Region 2), is conducting a market survey and is seeking sources for general contractor services. The requirement for this opportunity includes complete demolition and replacement of the existing low-slope roofing system at the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse located in Newark, NJ. The courthouse is a five story building originally constructed in the 1980s. The total area of the multi-level roof is approximately, 50,000 square feet. It will be the contractor's responsibility to provide all management, supervision, manpower, equipment, and supplies necessary to complete the work. On-site supervision shall be provided by General Contractor personnel during all work on site. The work of this project includes, but is not limited to, the following: - demolition of the existing roofing system and insulation, the existing rooftop lightning protection system, and existing bird netting, - providing new insulation, - providing the specified modified bituminous membrane roofing system, - providing flashing and sealing at all penetrations and roof curbs, - providing new metal coping at the parapet wall, - providing new bird netting, - providing new rooftop lightning protection system, - relocation and resetting of mechanical equipment and ductwork as required to complete the work, - relocation and resetting of electrical conduit and cabling as required to complete the work, - other miscellaneous work associated with the roof replacement project. The installing contractor will be required to possess and demonstrate adequate qualifications to complete the work. These qualifications may include the following: - The Installer shall provide sufficient evidence to document a familiarity with the specified system and evidence of prior successful installations of the same or similar systems. The installer shall provide a list of project names, contact individuals, and telephone numbers, along with any written references that may be available. - The Installer shall be approved by the roof system manufacturer to install the manufacturer's products. The installer shall be approved and eligible to receive the specified manufacturer's full systems warranty. The building will remain occupied throughout the duration of the project. Disruption to building activities must be kept to a minimum. Disruptive work must be completed during off-hours. This includes work which will produce excessive noise or odors and deliveries which will impact building traffic.
