Lucchesi Turf Field Replacement

**As of June 21, 2023 project is on hold. No definite date for the rebid.** The Lucchesi Multi-Use Turf project will replace the existing synthetic turf with new materials and address drainage issues at the site. The all-weather field is used heavily by resident youth and adult recreation programs and leagues. The field is used primarily by soccer and lacrosse groups and the turf is now past its expected 10-year service life. Correction of drainage issues will be performed prior to laying new turf. Investigation and testing was performed in January 2022. The design team is exploring a potential shock absorbing underlay that could help with drainage as well as improving player safety. While it would be a slightly higher initial cost, the shock pads are expected to last for two 10-year turf cycles. New infill materials that meet city goals will be used instead of crumb rubber. Fees charged for the use of the field will provide most of the funds for the project. Design was completed in FY21-22, with a scheduled bid opening in June/July 2022. Construction will take place in FY22-23. This project is included in the City of Petaluma's FY 2022-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of June 28, 2022, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available.
