Description The existing boiler is original from 1983 and now in its 36th year of service life. The boiler is a Peerless cast iron sectional atmospheric boiler rated at 2,665 MBH input and 2,132 MBH output with a 26% de-rate resulting in a final site output of 1,578 MBH. The boiler has a standing pilot light ignition system and no vent damper. It was originally configured to fire on propane. The boiler appears to be properly designed and sized for the site elevation. Atmospheric boilers need to be de rated for site elevation at 4% per 1,000 feet. For the 6,500 feet of elevation that works out to a 26% reduction. With the 26% reduction the boiler output closely matches the pump capacity of 150 GPM at a typical 20-degree temperature rise. There is no evidence or documentation that burner orifices were modified when the fuel system was changed to natural gas. As a single boiler there is no provision for redundancy or back up in the event of a problem with the boiler.
