Description | The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is requiring demolition services for two buildings located at 202 Centennial Street, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. There are two buildings included in the demolition with descriptions as follows: 1) Traffic Communications Building (ID 1000/3/053): This building consists of one-story with approximately 1,400 square feet constructed in 1984. The building is a metal and CMU exterior framed structure with a sheet metal and concrete roof system. Exterior building materials include sheet metal, wood and CMU. Interior materials include drywall wall systems, fiberglass and Styrofoam insulation within walls and a spray applied foam insulation on the ceiling. Floors are concrete, painted concrete or finished with vinyl floor tiles. The building had natural gas with a forced air heater over the office areas. The contractor shall remove the entire structure and all footers and the foundation, including the concrete aprons surrounding the building and the concrete walls located to the east of the building. There is non-friable foundation sealant, approximately 400 square feet, which will remain in place for building demolition. 2) Patrol 12 Building (ID 1000/3/051): This building consists of one-story with approximately 6,700 square feet constructed in 1976. The building is a concrete panel structure and concrete Twin-T with a low-sloped, tar-impregnated roof. The garage of the building has sheet metal, wood and interior drywall wall systems. The garage ceiling is concrete. There are five rooms (office, storage and restroom) within the building. No floor coverings are present except approximately 125 square feet of vinyl flooring in an office. The contractor shall remove the entire structure and all footers and the foundation along with the associate floor drains and oil/sand separator tanks (approximately 1,500-gallons). The contractor shall have the oil/sand separators pumped out prior to removal. There is non-friable roofing felt and tar covering the roof, approximately 6,700 square feet and 100 square feet respectively, which will remain in place for building demolition. The contractor must find a landfill that will accept the non-friable debris and include in their cost the amount to dispose of the non-friable debris. Change orders will not be accepted for the disposal of non-friable debris after the initial bid for either building. The Patrol 12 building and associated backfill and compaction tests must be completed by January 8, 2021. The Contractor shall also review the attached Phasing Plan and adhere to the requirements in this Plan. |
