Description | The project will remediate several drainage issues throughout the airport. In particular, there are four (4) main areas where stormwater is flowing uncontrolled at the Airport causing erosion. The first area is on the west side of the west GA Area. The fencing in this area is being undercut and the project will rectify this by adding in rip-rap to allow water to pass that point without eroding the bottom of the fence. The second and fourth areas are at the north end of the west T-Hangar Area, between the parallel Taxiway and the Hangar Apron area. There is stormwater concentrated into rills, or gullies, that are not stabilized to control erosion. A rip-rap channel will be installed in the drainage channels since those are small, well-defined areas. The areas around the rip-rap channels will be reseeded and mulched with erosion control mulch blanket. These areas are roughly 0.10 acres and 0.04 acres respectively. The third area is along the fill slope on the south side of Runway 23, extending from approximately the displaced threshold 600’ +/- to the south. In the third area, a berm will be installed at the top of the slope to force the runoff to areas where rip rap channels will be installed. A rip-rap channel will be installed in the drainage channel. The areas around the rip-rap channels will be reseeded and mulched with erosion control mulch blanket. This area is roughly 0.83 acres. The project area will also include an existing site that has been used as a staging area for previous project. The overall goal of the project is to eliminate the erosion by stabilizing the areas where the runoff is flowing. |
