Description

Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge is constructing two wetland units for habitat restoration as approved in our completed Environmental Assessment for Site Restoration. We worked with Auxilio to complete the 100% design and technical specifics of the wetlands. In order to properly manage the wetland, we need to be able to add water during anytime of the year. With the acquisition of Valle de Oro NWR the Service also purchased surface and groundwater rights. There were 5 existing wells on the property. During the acquisition phase each well was tested by Rodgers and Company to see if it was functional. The well in the northwest corner (WELL RG-118-S) needs to be repaired before it is in working order to supply the wetlands. It will also need connection to electricity.
