Waste Containers and Hauling for Wastewater

The Wastewater Treatment Plants utilize bar screens to remove large objects from theincoming sewage to prevent them from clogging equipment in the wastewater process. These objects are collected in a three (3) yard container and hauled to the City’s TransferStation twice a week. The Wastewater Treatment plant has three (3) plants that utilizethe containers. Airport Plant – 2 Containers – 7618 Mustang Drive, Galveston, Texas 77554 Terramar Plant – 1 Container – 3715 ½ Laguna Dr., Galveston, Texas 77553 Main Plant – 2 Containers – 5200 Port Industrial, Galveston, Texas 77554 The main Wastewater Treatment Plant also removes grit in the process to prevent abrasive material entering the process. Grit reduces the capacity and can harm pumps that carry the water to the UV for inactivation of harmful pathogens. A 25-yard container is necessary for the collection of grit and must be hauled to the landfill, located at 3935 Ave A, Alta Loma, Texas, as needed.
