Description | All bids rejected on 07/07/2022 The Project generally involves install six flow and pressure monitoring stations in existing recycled water system to improve monitoring of recycled water delivery and leak detection. The work under this section shall consist of construction of six (6) new flow and pressure monitoring stations at various location within San Jose, Milpitas, and Santa Clara, along: Technology Dr., Tasman Dr., Yerba Buena Rd., Kruse Dr (revocable)., North First St. (revocable), and Coleman Ave. The work shall include, but not be restricted to, clearing, grubbing, and removal of obstructions, laying and installing pipe for the recycled water system, installing flow meters, pressure monitoring devices, and vaults, installing hydrants for pipeline dewatering, installing a service line with an irrigation meter box, pavement and landscape restorations, protection of existing utilities and appurtenances, restoring site to original or better conditions, all works associated with power supply including PG&E power service application and fees, and such other items and details as required in these Special Provisions, the Plans, the City of San Jose Standard Specifications, the City of San Jose Standard Details, and the SBWR Standard Details. Engineer's Estimate: $1,980,000.00 Each bid must be accompanied by cash, a certified check, a cashier's check or a bidder's bond in the sum of not less than 10% of the total aggregate amount of the bid. Checks shall be made payable to the order of the City of San Jose. Bonds shall be executed by a surety possessing a valid certificate of authority issued by the California Department of Insurance and shall name the City of San Jose as beneficiary. All bids must be addressed to the Director of Public Works, City of San Jose, shall bear the Project Number and Name and be in a sealed envelope. This project is a "public works" as defined in Sections 1720 through 1720.6 of the California Labor Code. In accordance with Chapter 14.09 of the San Jose Municipal Code entitled "Prevailing Wage Requirements for City Contracts Involving Public Works," the contractor will be required to comply with the prevailing wage provisions in California Labor Code Sections 1720 through 1861, and the City's Office of Equality Assurance is authorized to provide certain local enforcement of those provisions. As such, the contractor will need to pay not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rates for holiday and overtime work. Bidders must have a California contractor's license, classification A to bid this project. Bidders must submit questions or requests for information concerning any part of this bid in writing to the city. The City will not respond to any communication or question submitted directly to City staff or City consultants. Submit questions via online no later than Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 3:00 pm. Bidder's attention is directed to those provisions of the Specifications which require the contractor to whom the contract for the work is awarded, to file with the City Clerk at the time the contract is executed, a Contractor's Payment Bond and a Bond for Faithful Performance meeting all the requirements of the Specifications and approved by the City Attorney of the City of San Jose. Bonds shall be executed by a surety possessing a valid certificate of authority issued by the California Department of Insurance and shall name the City of San Jose as beneficiary. The Contractor's Faithful Performance Bond shall be for 100% of the contract amount. The Contractor's Payment Bond shall be for 100% of the contract amount.
