Description

Rehabilitate existing stonewall and re-establish the towpath. Missing or washed out retaining wall will be reconstructed and other sections will be stabilized. The depth of the river at the towpath wall varies from 3 to 6 feet depending on seasonal fluctuations in the river level. The work will reestablish a foundation for the reconstructed wall, removing vegetation which cannot be removed now because of towpath conditions and reinforcing existing historic wall. Work will be accomplished by hand and mechanical means from barges which increases the cost. The result is a long-term sustainable solution.
