Description

As of July 10, 2023 a short list of design teams has been identified. A finalist has not been selected yet. The design intent and scope of the proposed project would deliver new beds with amenities nearly identical to Black-Diallo-Miller Hall. Rooms would be planned for double occupancy and flexibly designed to allow students the ability to reconfigure and customize the in-room furniture layout. Additionally, bedrooms will include individualized climate control. Privacy-enhanced community bathrooms will be located on each hall or wing of the facility. Programmatic spaces will include study rooms, lounges, and kitchens. The square foot per student ratio, inclusive of sleeping rooms, bathrooms and programmatic spaces is anticipated to be comparable Black-Diallo-Miller Hall. The proposed design intent should reflect an efficient use of space that supports UGA's continued commitment to an appropriate balance between student needs and affordability. BOR reserves the right to reject any or all statements of qualifications or proposals, and to waive technicalities and informalities at their discretion. The start of design and construction is contingent on the availability of funding. The Design Professional's services are anticipated to commence immediately following Board of Regents approval of the appointment of the selected firm and contract execution with construction document completion required to meet an anticipated construction start date in August 2024 (with substantial completion no later than mid-January 2026).
