Description

The Police Air Support Unit currently occupies a hangar/office building and a separate aircraft storage facility at the DVT. Built in the 1970s, these facilities will need a major code upgrade to meet current code requirements in order to remain operational. Due to the extensive code improvement needed in the buildings, and airfield expansion requirements for the current hangar site, the City has opted to reconstruct the existing apron, construct a new ramp and taxi lane for PD aircraft fleet, and replace the existing Police hangar facilities on airport property immediately south of the current site. The new Police hangar would be a like-for-like replacement of the existing facility. 1. Provide detailed cost estimating and knowledge of marketplace conditions 2. Provide project planning and scheduling 3. Provide for construction phasing and scheduling that will minimize interruption to airport operations 4. Provide alternate systems evaluation and constructability studies 5. Advise City on ways to gain efficiencies in project delivery 6. Provide long-lead procurement studies and initiate procurement of long-lead items 7. Assist in the permitting processes 8. Participate with the City in a process to set a goal for local and SBE participation and implement the local and SBE process 9. Protect the owner’s sensitivity to quality, safety, and environmental factors 10. Advise City on achieving LEED Silver certification for PD Hangar by choosing green building materials.
