Description

This project consists of improvements to Conlon Park in the Township of North Bergen. This project is funded by the using North Bergen Capital funds. Description of Work: The work for this project includes, but it not necessarily limited to the following major work items: 1. Contractor shall remove and reset benches & memorial stone and store items offsite prior to demolition. Contractor shall reinstall benches and memorial stone after work is completed. 2. Clearing site shall include but is not limited to removal of 2" of concrete & handrail. 3. Contractor shall tie the proposed chain-link fence to the existing fence at the nearest fence post. 4. Contractor shall carefully remove only 2-4" of concrete squares and 4" of spalling concrete from the site. Removal & disposal of concrete shall be paid under Bid Item 2". 5. The Contractor shall pour a minimum thickness of 4" of concrete overly. The proposed thickness of concrete varies from 4"-6". 6. Contractor shall install keyway to tie into existing sidewalk 7. The Contractor shall repair concrete base if any damage is visible, this will be paid under bid item 4 8. Contractor shall ensure positive drainage is maintained on site. 9. The site shall remain ADA compliant. The contractor shall coordinate grade elevations with the Engineer and/or inspector in the field 10. Restore all disturbed areas in kind in the same condition or better prior to commencing improvements. This shall include top soiling, seeding, sodding and fertilizing 11. The contractor is responsible to verify the location of all utilities and to schedule all work involved with utilities. Any cost related to this coordination shall be included in the various items in the proposal 12. All related incidental work, including but not limited to, maintenance and protection of traffic, dust control, soil erosion and cleaning and restoration, shall be paid for under the various items in the proposal. 13. Contractors will be responsible for on-site safety and shall provide a qualified on-site safety appointee at all time, for the duration the project. Each bid must be accompanied by a cashier's check, certified check or bid bond from a surety company licensed to do business in the State of New Jersey, in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid submitted in the Bid Proposal Form, but not in excess of $20,000.00, made payable to the Township of North Bergen. Cash will not be accepted. The bid bond submitted shall be in a form satisfactory to the Township and shall comply If indicated above, after the award of the contract, the successful bidder shall provide a performance and payment bond issued by a surety company licensed to do business in the State of New Jersey, in an amount equal to 100% of the total contact awarded. The performance and payment bond shall be in the form set forth in N.J.S.A. 2A:44-143. Amount of Maintenance Bond: 100 % of total final contract price. Prevailing wage Compliance is required. The parties recognize that in many instances when there is a default or breach of the Contract by the successful bidder, the actual damages incurred by the Township will be difficult or impossible to determine. Accordingly, the successful bidder shall pay to the Township as liquidated damages and not as a penalty, $500 to $2,000 per day, for any delay in the performance of the Contract.
