Description 1. Repave Parking Lots: Contractor shall remove and replace approximately 259,701 square feet of asphaltic concrete. The areas to be removed and replaced are highlighted in Attachment 1. New asphaltic concrete shall conform to Pima Association of Governments (PAG) Standard Specification Section 406 mix #2. The new asphalt should be 2 inches thick over 4 inches of compacted aggregate base course. The existing asphalt should be completely removed to allow for the new materials to be placed matching existing grades. The existing base course should be evaluated for structural integrity and any soft or problem areas should be excavated and replaced with satisfactory material. Prior to placement of new asphaltic concrete, the aggregate base should be scarified and compacted to 100 percent of maximum density as determined by ASTM D698. There are existing canopies with solar panels on top over most of the parking spaces that will need to be protected. The maximum clearance under these canopies is approximately 8 feet. The Contractor shall survey existing slopes on all replacement asphalt areas prior to demolition activities to ensure the same slopes are used for the new asphaltic concrete. At Lot K, a new valley gutter shall be installed per the attached detail. Prior to starting work in parking lots, the contractor should do exploratory work to verify the existence of AB under the pavement. This verification has already been completed for Lot Q and the report is available at the Contractor's request. All pavement markings shall be repainted to match existing. Parking bumpers should be removed and reinstalled to match existing conditions. 2. Repave Roadways: Contractor shall remove and replace approximately 55,000 square feet of asphaltic concrete. The areas to be removed and replaced are highlighted in Attachment 1. New asphaltic concrete shall conform to PAG Standard Specification Section 406 mix #2. The new asphalt should be 3 inches thick over 6 inches of compacted aggregate base course. The Contractor shall survey existing slopes on all replacement asphalt areas prior to demolition activities to ensure the same slopes are used for the new asphaltic concrete. All pavement markings shall be repainted to match existing. 3. Repaint Roadway Markings: Repaint approximately 14,000 LF of the double yellow centerlines, 1,370 LF white vehicle parking space lines, 650 LF white stop bars, 900 LF of speed bump striping and approximately 30 directional arrows and all other existing road markings in the indicated areas in Attachment 2. Apply reflectorized beads to all the painted surfaces. Roads include but are not limited to Army Run, Navy Way, Marine Corps Trail, Coast Guard Ave., Veterans Boulevard, Air Force Loop and Merchant Marine Road. See attached map for the project areas in red.
