Description | Catawba County (hereinafter "County") is requesting bids from qualified Contractor(s) to provide repairs and alternations to the roads located within the Norman Plantation Subdivision in Catawba County. Norman Plantation Subdivision is located off Greenwood Road in the Southwest part of Catawba County near the Terrell Community. It consists of 14 residential lots and has two streets. Live Oaks Avenue is the main access road and Hearthstone Court is a short street cul-de-sac off of Live Oaks Avenue. The residents of Norman Plantation have petitioned Catawba County to finance repairs and alterations to the Roads in the subdivision to bring them up to North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) standards with the goal that the roads will be accepted by NCDOT into the Secondary Road Maintenance Program. The Norman Plantation Subdivision was platted in 1999 and the roads were constructed around that time. Currently, the roads are in good condition with no potholes and minimal cracking of the road surface. In September of 2010, the NCDOT inspected the subdivision roads and provided a list of issues that needed to be corrected. Since 2010 a few other issues have developed that need to be addressed before the roads would be accepted into NCDOT's maintenance program.
