Description

The Scope of Work includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, tools, and all associated work necessary to 1) a lump sum and unit price to cut out several damaged areas of airfield asphalt totaling approximately 15,000 square feet and to repair these areas by milling and paving and 2) provide unit price for small patch repair services for future airfield pavement emergencies as needed. The contractor shall participate in a pre-construction meeting prior to starting the work and comply with the airport's procedures for maintaining safety during constructions. All personnel will be training in these procedures and general airfield safety prior to starting the work. The work may need to be phase over multiple days to ensure there is no impact the aircraft operations. There are nine areas (totaling approximately 15,000 square feet) airfield pavement that must be repaired immediately and shall consist of fine milling 1.5" of existing bituminous concrete pavement from in the location depicted below and paving the area with HMA S0.375 bituminous concrete pavement mix to a compacted depth of 1.5". The existing pavement shall be sawcut to a vertical face at the limits of work prior to milling. The milled surface shall be brushed clean and coated with material for tack coat at an application rate of 0.07 gallons/square-yard immediately prior to paving; existing sawcut surfaces shall also receive an application of tack coat. Pavement joints shall be joint sealed. HMA S0.375 bituminous concrete pavement and material for tack coat shall be provided in accordance with the current Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Special Provisions for materials and construction, Section M.04 - Bituminous Concrete Materials and Section 4.06 - Bituminous Concrete, except that acceptance testing shall be in accordance with ASTM D2950.
