Description

The estimated annual amount of hexafluorosilicic acid used at LCWTP is 430,000 pounds (lbs.) wet. The estimated amount of hexafluorosilicic acid used at POMWTP is 65,000 lbs. wet. The District is a wholesale provider of treated water to Salt Lake City Public Utilities Department, Sandy City Public Utilities Department, and others. The District owns and operates two (2) water treatment plants, the Little Cottonwood Water Treatment Plant (LCWTP) and the Point of the Mountain Water Treatment Plant (POMWTP), (collectively called the Treatment Plants). The Treatment Plants have full conventional treatment. Hexafluorosilicic acid is added to the water at the request of Salt Lake County voters as a public health measure. The estimated annual amount of hexafluorosilicic acid used at LCWTP is 430,000 pounds (lbs.) wet. The estimated amount of hexafluorosilicic acid used at POMWTP is 65,000 lbs. wet. Numbers were calculated using a twenty-three (23) percent (%) solution as the reference solution. Actual quantities will vary. Forces of nature, raw water quality, and other factors will determine the amount of hexafluorosilicic acid required. For a more complete description of product and/or service requirements refer to Exhibit A of the attached Sample Agreement. Because of the volatility in pricing for raw materials and other factors, contracts will be limited to a oneyear term. Prices are to remain fixed for such term.
