Description

Renovation of Judge E. Maurice Braswell Courthouse (JEMBC) First Floor Public Restrooms and Lower-Level Juvenile Probation Restrooms Approximate award date 08/26/2022 12:00 AM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Bid bonds are NOT required for this project. Performance and Payment Bonds are NOT required. Instructions: Vendors invited to submit bids are required to have a representative present at the pre-bid meeting and appraise themselves of the conditions and requirements which will affect the performance of the work called for by this invitation for bid. This is a MANDATORY pre-bid meeting. Therefore, bids will not be accepted from any vendor who is not present for the pre-bid meeting. All Contractors are notified that North Carolina Statutory provisions as to licensing for Contractors will be observed in receiving, reading, and awarding of contracts. All bidders that submit a proposal for this project must be a North Carolina Licensed General Contractor. No bids may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of proposals for a period of forty- five (45) days. The County reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. The bidder to whom the contract may be awarded must comply with the requirements of G.S. Section 143-131, as amended. SUMMARY OF WORK The work to be performed under this project consists of providing all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the construction/renovation of the JEMB Courthouse First Floor Public Restrooms & Lower-Level Juvenile Probation Restrooms (Men & Women's). The intent of this project is to modernize the public bathrooms. The modernization of the restrooms shall be in accordance with all local codes and regulations, as well as ADA compliance. *County Engineering Department to verify all material and finishes before installation. * Scope of work includes: First Floor Public Men's and Women's Restroom Demo Work: o Demo electric hand dryers, paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, mirrors, toilet partitions, baby changing station, feminine hygiene product dispensers, and lights in bathroom. o Remove and reuse grab bars. (Contractor to provide additional grab bars if needed to meet ADA compliance.) Reference Figure 604.5.1 and Figure 604.5.2 in ICC A117.1-2017. o Demo all faucets, lavatories, urinals, and water closets. All water distribution lines for lavatories, water closets and urinals to REMAIN. Replace all cut off valves for water closets, urinals and lavatories. o Demo existing spigot and provide a new tamper-proof spigot. o Demo stainless steel ADA sink with electric plug and light in both men and women's restroom. Disconnect power to stainless steel sink, wires to be removed at junction box in the ceiling and capped with wires nuts in junction box. Patch hole with 20-gauge metal studs and cement board and patch with new tile (match size and finish of existing tile, color doesn't not matter, a coating will applied to all walls as a part of this project). A new wall mounted ADA sink to be installed in this area. New Work: o Install cover plates over junction box where old existing electric hand dryers were demoed. o Install new LED light fixtures in ceiling. (Preferred fixture is 34 W Volumetric Troffer 2'x4') o Paper towel/toilet paper/soap dispenser to be provided by owner and installed by contractor. o Install new ADA compliant mirrors. Reference 603.3 ICC A117.1 - 2017. o Install new ADA compliant baby changing station. (Reference 308.2.1 and 308.2.2 ICC A117.1- 2017) Preferred brand is Foundations, horizontal mount (100-EH // 5210089). o Replace existing outlet with (1) GFCI outlet (20 AMP). o The required fixtures are as follows: o Standard water closets shall be American Standard Madera FloWise 15" height 1.6 gpf. All ADA water closets shall be American Standard Madera FloWise 16.5" height 1.6 gpf. All water closets shall be equipped with a touchless flush sensor retro fit kit Sloan (EBV500A). All flush valve piping shall be Regal 111 Manual Flushometer. o Urinals shall be American Standard Washbrook FloWise Universal Urinal. All urinals shall be equipped with a touchless flush sensor retro fit kit Sloan (EBV500A). All flush valve piping shall be Sloan 186 Flushmeter. o Lavatories shall be wall hung American Standard Lucerne 0356.041. All lavatories shall be equipped with a battery-operated touchless faucet Sloan SF-2450 o Contractor to provide adequate pipe insulation for ADA compliance. ADA heights for all water closets, urinals and lavatories shall be meet. Reference Chapter 6 ICC A117.1- 2017. o Apply a pigmented coating over tile walls. Command by Benjamin Moore is the required product. Contractor to repair cracked or damaged tiles and fill any holes with caulk. o Apply a epoxy resin with a polyaspartic coating to include a 6" radial cove base around the perimeter of the room. Floor to match existing floor coating in the lower-level public restrooms. o Repair existing sheetrock in bathrooms. Repaint all sheetrock in bathroom. o Install new solid phenolic partitions for water closets and urinals. Recommended brand is ASI Global partitions. Ensure that all compartment sizes meet ADA compliance. Reference Figure 604.9.2 (A/B) and 604.10.1 ICC A117.1-2017. Partitions to match existing in lower-level restrooms. o Refinish Bathroom door. (Strip and re-stain door.) o Provide new ADA compliant signage. Lower-Level Juvenile Probation Men's and Women's Restroom Demo Work: o Demo electric hand dryers, paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, mirrors, toilet partitions, toilet paper dispenser, baby changing station, feminine hygiene product dispensers, and lights in bathroom. o Remove and reuse grab bars. Any additional grab bars needed the contractor is responsible to provide. o Demo all faucets, lavatories, urinals, and water closets. All water distribution lines for lavatories, water closets and urinals to REMAIN. Replace all cut off valves for water closets, urinals and lavatories. New Work: o Install cover plates over junction box where old existing electric hand dryers were demoed. o Install new LED light fixtures in ceiling. (Preferred fixture is 34 W Volumetric Troffer 2'x4') o Paper towel/toilet paper/soap dispenser to be provided by owner and installed by contractor. o Install new mirrors in bathrooms. (Comparable size to existing mirrors.) o The required fixtures are as follows: o Standard water closets shall be American Standard Madera FloWise 15" height 1.6 gpf. All water closets shall be equipped with a touchless flush sensor retro fit kit Sloan (EBV500A). All flush valve piping shall be Regal 111 Manual Flushometer. o Urinals shall be American Standard Washbrook FloWise Universal Urinal. All urinals shall be equipped with a touchless flush sensor retro fit kit Sloan (EBV500A). All flush valve piping shall be Sloan 186 Flushmeter. o Lavatories shall be wall hung American Standard Lucerne 0356.041. Contractor to repair cracked or damaged tiles and fill any holes with caulk. o Apply an epoxy resin with a polyaspartic coating to include a 6" radial cove base around the perimeter of the room. Floor to match existing floor coating in the lower-level public restrooms. o Repair existing sheetrock in bathrooms. Repaint all sheetrock in bathroom o Install new solid phenolic partitions for water closets and urinals. Recommended brand is ASI Global partitions.
