Description

Original Set Aside: 8(a) Sole Source (FAR 19.8). The proposed project will be to nourish approximately 1.6 miles of shoreline on Lido Key using beach compatible material. The primary sand source will be portions of Big Sarasota Pass and ebb shoal, split over two borrow areas (C and D). The fill template design includes a berm crest elevation of +4.0 feet North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88) and a sloped berm section from +4 feet NAVD88 down to +2.0 feet NAVD88 at a slope of 1v:50h. The seaward face of the berm has a slope of 1v:10h. The cut depths at the borrow areas will be to a maximum allowable depth of -13.5 feet NAVD88 with a two-foot disturbance depth. Two rubble mound groins will be constructed at the south end of Lido Key. They will consist of uniform 2-ton armor stones, placed on 12-inch-thick marine mattress foundation mats on geotextile fabric. The northern groin, Groin #1, will be 144 feet in length and the southern groin, Groin #2, will be 279 feet in length (along crest). Both groins have a crest width of 9 feet, at an elevation of +4.0 feet NAVD88. Project work also includes, but is not limited to, beach tilling, construction/vibration control and monitoring, turbidity monitoring, environmental species monitoring, beach fill remediation and incidental related work. The project is located on Lido Key, a 2.4 mile long barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico in Sarasota County. The island is approximately 45 miles south of Tampa Florida.
