Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - St. Paul District requires a contractor to determine the interior concrete condition of the lock chamber walls at Lock & Dam 6, Trempealeau, Wisconsin. This will be accomplished by vertically drilling a total of eight (8) 4-inch diameter concrete core cylinders in the locations and to the depths (between 5 and 10 feet) prescribed in the SOW. All of the cores shall be visually inspected, photographed, and the physical condition documented. A full petrographic analysis, in accordance with ASTM C 856 and ASTM C 457 shall be conducted on two (2) of the cores, one from the upstream landwall, and one from the upstream I-wall. All eight samples shall be tested for compressive strength in accordance with ASTM C 39. The contractor shall submit a final report to the USACE-MVP Concrete Materials Engineer. Prior to departing the site, core holes shall be filled with a non-shrink grout and all surface areas damaged by Contractor's operations restored.
