Melaleuca Elementary School Modernization

Design services required for the modernization of Melaleuca Elementary School within the established Construction Budget and in accordance with the established Project Schedule. The project shall meet the program requirements established by the Owner and be within the DOE mandated cost per student station. The modernized school will be located on the site of the existing school as an 866 student station facility to include new construction and remodeling or renovation of existing buildings to remain as deemed necessary. Preliminary estimate of areas, subject to change as the program/design progresses, include 65,000 - 70,000 gross SF for New/Modernization area and 18,000 - 20,000 gross SF for Renovation area. Temporary holding for school operations during construction will be required off-site. Design services for modernized school and off-site holding school shall include development of all conceptual design, Facility List, preliminary site plan, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and construction administration and community outreach and engagement as required. Construction may be phased with the schedule for design deliverables based upon the phased construction schedule as determined by the Owner. Occupancy is scheduled for August 2023. The permitted design shall not exceed the established cost/student station established by the Florida Department of Education based on occupancy of August 2023. Based on occupancy of January 2023, the Florida DOE Student Station Cost Factors published 8/3/2020, the Cost per Student Station for this Project is $24,555. The Permitted Design shall incorporate all of the requirements set forth in all applicable specifications including Florida Building Code, Florida Accessibility Codes, District Master Specifications, District Design Criteria, Department of Education requirements, SREF 2014 and all other applicable specifications. The ARCHITECT will be required to certify the Permitted Design complies with one of the energy efficient and sustainable building standards per F.S. 255.2575.
