Description

This project consists of the rehabilitation to the existing pavement at the Ocean City Municipal Airport. Runway 6-24 will have all cracks sealed. This will be done with crack sealer and backing if necessary. A small number of cracks on the Runway will require full depth reconstruction. This will consist of pavement removal, subbase fine grading and compaction, and new pavement binding and wearing courses placed and compacted to existing grades. Additionally, to provide stabilization to and to prevent further oxidation of the pavement surface, the entire runway (60' x 2,972' - 178,320 square feet) will be sealed with a surface treatment and then remarked. It should be noted that the Runway 24 markings will be updated since there is, nor has there ever been a published approach to that end. The Taxiways and apron will not require any full depth reconstruction and will require only crack sealing. No large-scale full depth reconstruction will need to be completed because according to a Airport Pavement Management System (APMS) Report from 2014 all pavement on the Airport is satisfactory or good. Remarking will then be completed over the entire area. This project will be designed and take place over the next three years. This will be done so that the Airport can continue operations while the majority of work is being completed and to meet funding levels.
