Description | https://www.spartnerships.com/pipeline/2022/government-contracting-pipeline-8-17-2022.html - In New Hampshire, the state's Seacoast Greenway project will connect to the East Coast Greenway network. A plan to develop seventeen miles of bikeway along an existing rail corridor throughout Rockingham County has been announced. The state's Department of Transportation has provided support by acquiring ten miles of inactive railway for trail conversion. County officials have budgeted tens of millions to construct segments of the trail and other funding will follow. There will be many opportunities for collaborative initiatives as the project develops. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The abandoned rail corridor from Portsmouth to Hampton includes 3.6 miles in Portsmouth. This corridor has been designated as the future off-road route of the NH Seacoast Greenway. The NH Department of Transportation has funding to acquire the rail corridor, as well as partial funding to convert it to a multi-use trail. NHDOT continues to negotiate with the current owner (PanAm Railways) to acquire the right-of-way. Once acquired, design and construction will be done through a collaboration between NHDOT and corridor communities. The Portsmouth portion will be constructed in phases, beginning with the 0.8 mile segment between Barberry Lane and Route 33. The project cost estimates assume that the City will be responsible for 40% of design and construction costs. As March 10, 2023, this project is currently in the FY 2024-2029 CIP. Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction FY 2025. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. |
