Laboratory casework with electrical raceway for equipment connections. iv. Additional power as needed (see section 13). v. Relocated CA, VAC, and CO2 lines from Rm 001 into room. b. Create a new room in the southeast corner of Rm 001 to act as an antechamber room, providing a buffer between each of the (3) laboratory rooms and (1) administrative space adjacent to it. i. Antechamber shall have positive pressure between all adjacent rooms (see section 8). ii. Will have existing epoxy resin sink located within it. 1. Have connections for government provided water purification system. iii. All doors into room shall have large viewing windows. c. Modify casework in remaining area of Rm 001 to accommodate new walls and add knee wells were specified. 2. Modify entomology wet laboratory (Rm 003) as follows: i. Install new 4' fume hood in NW corner (see section 7). b. Replace epoxy resin sink with smaller well sink. c. Extend casework and countertop up to new fume hood. d. Install new emergency shower pull station and mixing valve within room. i. Final location should be discussed with government safety personnel. e. Remove stainless steel sink in southwest corner. f. Replace existing mop sink with smaller. g. Modify casework to add knee wells where specified. HVAC 3. The specifications for new 4' fume hood in Rm 003 are: a. Design face velocity of 100 FPM up to a sash working height of 18". b. Responds to changes in sash height within 3 seconds. c. Epoxy resin work surface. d. Vertical opening sash. e. Solvent storage rated metal casework base (including proper markings). i. Include vent kit to vent into hood. f. Ceiling enclosure to hide fume hood exhaust. g. (2) Duplex outlets on the front face of the fume hood. 4. Reconfigure HVAC supply and returns to provide appropriate ventilation, heating/cooling, and pressurization between adjacent rooms. a. Ensure all minimum requirements for duct velocity and sound/vibration are met. b. Ensure sufficient controls are present to react to changes in fume hood sash height within 3 seconds to maintain safe velocities. c. Change diffusers and grilles to filtered type to prevent potential escape of arthropod specimens. Plumbing 5. Provide emergency shower station in Rm 003 where it meets all requirements for access with minimal impact on usable footprint. 6. Provide connections for water purification system in antechamber. 7. Change drains and vacuum line fixtures to filtered type to prevent potential escape of arthropod specimens. Electrical 8. Reconfigure lighting to ensure adequate lighting in all rooms after relocation of walls and shelves. a. Add additional lighting added as needed to ensure there are no darkened areas that attract escaped arthropods. 9. Provide electrical raceway and run circuits as necessary to power all equipment specified in attached document. a. Power shall be available within 2ft of specified location. b. All sections shall have additional capacity for additional equipment. Finishes 10. All ceiling tiles in Rm 001 and Rm 003 to be replaced with laboratory quality, smooth, cleanable type. 11. Add new numbered room signs to account for all reconfigured spaces. Project Description: The objective of this project is for the Contractor to provide all labor, materials and equipment necessary to develop a design package to renovate and expand building at Entomology Laboratory, Building 20073, in accordance with all Federal, State, and Installation codes and laws, to include preparation of a design as discussed below.
