Repair/Replace Waterway Signs, Joint Base Charleston

The project is located on Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. Furnish all labor, material, equipment, incidentals, supervision and transportation for work necessary to repair or replace all signs on the Restricted Area Water Way on JB CHSWS with current signs. Signs shall be placed on both sides of the water where the land is considered a Restricted Area and must be 100-200 feet apart along Goose Creek, Cooper River, Yellow House Creek/Slack Reach, Back River, and Foster Creek adjacent to Joint Base Charleston. Many signs are missing, other signs are bent or leaning causing the signs to be submerged during high tide causing the signs to be unreadable to passing boats. New signs will be constructed using two 6 inch x 6 inch posts. The posts will be pressure treated (non-creosote treatment) to resist marine borers in accordance with AWPA Standard U1, Use Category UC5B. The signs will be approximately 3 feet by 4 feet and will be installed between the posts approximately 4 feet above mean high water. In order to minimize impacts to species, posts will be installed using a water jet or a vibratory hammer. In order to reduce potential construction-related impacts to West Indian manatees, construction personnel will monitor all water-related activities for the presence of manatees and will comply with USFWS Standard Manatee Construction Conditions.
