Description

This project consists of, but is not limited to: Constructing new concrete training walls around the first pond, pond #1, of the 4 front line rearing ponds, replacing a concrete water level control structure, flume, between pond #1 and pond #2. Repairing the concrete apron at the outlet of the concrete raceways at the upstream end of pond #1. The new concrete water level control structure, flume, will include a new drain to be connected to the main drain line for the hatchery facility. The new concrete training walls, replacement water level control structure, flume and drain are to improve operations and maintenance of the ponds. The existing concrete apron at the outlet of the concrete raceways is in very poor condition and in need of repair. In addition, the project will include a new bypass system and drain for the concrete headbox at the upstream end of the existing concrete raceways to improve operations and maintenance of the headbox. The project will also include erosion prevention and sediment control measures, cofferdams and control of water systems, piping, valves, earthwork and all other appurtenances and incidental work necessary to complete the project. This is a rebid of a larger project that included new concrete training walls around all 4 front line rearing ponds and new water control structures, flumes, between all the ponds. The revised project includes the headbox bypass system and drain, repairs to the concrete apron at the outlet of the concrete raceways, concrete training walls around pond #1 and a short portion of pond #2 to tie in a new flume between ponds #1 and #2 and the associated drain. The plans, bid sheet, the Scope and Sequence of Work and the Measurement and Payment sections of the specifications have been revised to reflect the reduced scope of the project. Plans indicate Not in Contract (N.I.C) for elements that will be included in a future phase. The time period window for construction of this project is fairly narrow, from early June to no later than mid-July, due to need to manage the fish stock. Basically, the period from when trout in the ponds are removed for stocking until new trout to be raised for next year's stocking are put back in the ponds.
