Shaw Veterans Park Maintenance Program

Routine maintenance will include the following: Mulch: Double Hammered Hardwood Mulch twice a year in the spring and the fall, to be brought up to 3” min depth. Grass cutting and trimming: to be done every 2 weeks in Spring-summer, March 1 – Nov 15 and once every 3 weeks in winter Nov. 15- March 1. Weed Removal: All weeds in lawn and plant beds will be removed every time the grass is cut. Edging: All sidewalks and areas where grass and plant beds meet shall be edged every time the grass is cut. Pruning: All trees and shrubs shall be pruned on a regular basis, but at a minimal of at least twice a year. Irrigation: Irrigation shall be maintained and adjusted on a regular basis depending on the time of year and fertilizer applications. Fertilizing: all plants and lawns shall be fertilized on a regular basis, using a normal maintenance program. Lawn shall be treated 4 times, Early Spring, Spring, Summer and Fall. Trees and Shrubs shall be fertilized with appropriate fertilizer in the spring and the fall. Soil test shall be performed once a year to determine the acidity or alkalinity (PH) of the soil, along with the level of nutrients that are present. Depending on the results, contractor may need to add nutrients to make up any deficiencies in the soil. Cleaning the site: All leaves, trash and debris shall be removed from the site every time the grass is cut.
